Open On This Day photos with Siri or an iPhone shortcut

The short answer

Say “PicWay” and a place to Siri, for example “PicWay On This Day.” You can also open the Shortcuts app, create a shortcut, search for PicWay, and pick where it goes. Shortcuts can sit on your Home Screen, in Control Center, or on the Action button. They only open that page in PicWay and never keep, delete, or share a photo for you.

How to do it

  1. Ask Siri

Say “PicWay” and the place you want, like “PicWay On This Day.”

  2. Or make a shortcut

In the Shortcuts app, create a shortcut, search for PicWay, tap it, and pick where to go.

  3. Put it somewhere handy

Add the shortcut to your Home Screen or Control Center, or assign it to the Action button in Settings > Action Button > Shortcut > Choose a Shortcut.

Apple’s own steps for the Action button are in Run shortcuts with the Action button (Apple Support, checked 2026-11-01). PicWay shows up in the Shortcuts app like any other app.

Where can a PicWay shortcut take me?

To 12 places: On this day, Random, Videos, Moments, Journeys, Set aside, Photos (your whole library), Memories to skip, Collage, Make a card, Creations, and Edit photo. PicWay’s settings list them under Siri & Shortcuts.

Does a shortcut change my photos?

No. A shortcut only opens a page in PicWay. It never keeps, deletes, or shares a photo for you, so it’s safe to put on the Action button.
