PicWay isn’t out yet. We’re still finishing the details, and it isn’t on the App Store.

Custom Filters

Your look,
saved as a filter.

Edit once, name it, and use it again
with one tap.

Custom filters in PicWay’s editor

To make a custom photo filter on iPhone, edit a photo in PicWay until you like the colors, then tap Save filter and give it a name. It shows up under Custom filters in the Filters strip, and one tap applies it to another photo, Live Photo, or video. A filter keeps your color settings (light, color, a built-in filter and its strength, and grain), not crops or markup.

Three steps

How do I make
my own filter?

  • 1. Edit

Open a photo in PicWay, tap Edit, and adjust it until the colors feel right.

  • 2. Save filter

Tap Save filter and give it a name, up to 40 characters.

  • 3. Use it anywhere

Next time, open Filters. Your filter is under Custom filters, right after Recent. Tap it.

What’s inside

What does a
custom filter save?

Your color settings. Not the crop, the markup, or the frame, so a filter fits any photo.

  • Light and color

Exposure, Brilliance, Highlights, Shadows, Contrast, Brightness, Black Point, Saturation, Vibrance, Warmth, Tint, and more.

  • A built-in filter and its strength

If you picked one of PicWay’s filters and dialed it back, that’s saved too.

  • Grain

A touch of film grain comes along with the rest.

Photos app vs. PicWay

Can’t the iPhone Photos app
do this already?

Partly. In Apple’s iPhone User Guide, you copy the edits from one photo and paste them onto others. The guide doesn’t describe saving a look as a named filter to use later. PicWay keeps it in your filter list.

  • Tap again, same result

Applying a filter sets the colors to what you saved. Tapping it twice doesn’t stack the effect.

  • Undo is one tap

Changed your mind? Undo brings back the colors you had before.

  • Rename or delete

Touch and hold a filter to rename or delete it. Photos you already saved don’t change.
